Comments: 884 West End Avenue is somewhat simpler in ornamentation than Gaetan Ajello’s slightly earlier, pre-World War I buildings located just across West End Avenue. As on his other buildings, Ajello has clad this apartment house in white brick with matching terra-cotta trim. The building has unusual header-brick lintels. The two-story, segmental-arch entrance has a cartouche with Joseph Paterno’s initials. (source)
