Formerly Beverly Parker Says She Will Seek a Divorce

RENO, Nev., Nov. 8 – Mrs. Beverly Paterno arrived from New York today and said she would seek a divorce from Joseph P. Paterno Jr., New York real estate heir. She denied reports that she intended to marry Thomas Manville.

The former Beverly Parker, an actress, was married to Mr. Paterno at Arming, N.Y., on March 24, 1936. they have a son, Joseph Parker Paterno, 4 years old, whom Mrs. Paterno took in custody on Aug. 16, a month after $400 a month permanent alimony had been awarded to her by John P. Cohalan, Supreme Court referee.

On Dec. 12, 1940, Mrs. Paterno began an action in Manhattan Supreme Court looking toward a separation, naming Patricia Wilder, Lenora Lemmon and Jane Gilbert, as companions of her husband.

Mrs. Paterno Wins Alimony

Official Supreme Court Referee John P. Cohalan recommended yesterday that Joseph Paterno, son of the late Joseph Paterno, real estate operator, be required to pay $400 a month permanent alimony to Mrs. Beverly Parker Paterno and that Mrs. Paterno receive custody of their 3 1/2 year old son, Joseph, Jr. They were married March 24, 1936, and separated earlier this year. The recommendation goes to Supreme Court Justice Bernard L. Shientag for approval.

Divorces Joseph Paterno, Jr.

RENO, Nev., Dec. 22 – Mrs. Beverly Parker Paterno, the actress, obtained a divorce today from her husband, Sergeant Joseph Paterno Jr. of New York, now at Camp David, N.C. She charged cruelty. She received the custody of their son, Joseph Parker Paterno, aged 3, and a cash settlement of $16,500 paid before she came here in November, and $550 a month, which will be reduced to $150 a month if she remarried.
