This book, written by my 2nd cousin (1x removed) Annette Elena Paterno Murphy, was loaned to me by her son Edward “Skip” Francis Murphy III, my 3rd cousin. I am grateful for those who take the time to record, preserve, and share family history and memories.
Forward:
The dawn is breaking and as the tip of the sun rises on the horizon, the silence is broken by the sound of the cry of a newborn babe. A new life emerges into the world. As the wonder of living unfold, the child matures – to laugh with the joys; shed tears when the heart is saddened. A unique individual – so different from the others, yet so much alike. Ancestry provides the mold; new lineages, places, times, and circumstances provide the variation that are passed on to descendants. This child of God leaves a mark upon the earth, perhaps not fame nor wealth, but a legacy indeed: FAMILY.

Dedication
Dedicated to those who have gone before us, especially Joanne and Chuck, for they truly loved their family.
Acknowledgements
I am grateful for all the research, information and initial draft of the Paterno family from Uncle Michael.
My thanks to my mother for the information and comments concerning the Silvester family and her own family life.
I gratefully acknowledge the inputs provided by many members of the family, for without their help this “LEGACY” could never have been written.
