ACKOWLEDGEMENT
Special thanks go to Alfredo Achilles Abbate whose grandmother (Rosa Trivigno Abbate) and my grandmother (Carolina Trivigno Abbate) were sisters. Al was kind enough to furnish me with a great deal of family information, particularly about the old days in Castelmezzano.
Al Americanized his name to Alfred Abbott and is now a retired colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Since retirement he has done a great deal of traveling around the world. The last time Helen and I saw him was when we were visiting my first cousin, Ralph Ciluzzi and his wife Yolanda in July 1975 at their lovely Villa Ciluzzi in Calabria which overlooks the Ionian Sea.
Gratitude is also expressed to my secretary Josephine Bocchino who has been with me longer than fifteen years and who typed and re-typed these anecdotes. Editorial ghosting was performed by a retired New York newspaperman living in Naples.
