Page 43: CHAPTER XII • 1976 – OUR LAST VISIT TO EUROPE
We left Miami by plane 7:30 p.m. on March 27, arriving in London 9:30 the next morning.
Our son Bobby picked us up and we drove to Ruddington to stay with him. We visited everyone there, having a great time, until April 18.
We returned to London by train and stayed two nights in the London Tower hotel. We had cousin George, his wife, and my mother’s sister Aunt Elsie over for dinner. We enjoyed reminiscing for a few hours.
Then to Naples on the 21st, staying with my brother Giogio and his wife Giulia. We visited all the folks there.
Later we went to Fontanarosa to see Giulia, with Giorgio and Celeste. We stayed there about a week.
On the return trip to Naples, sister Giulia accompanied us. Subsequently, with Giorgio and sister Giulia we took a train to Castelmezzano, staying there about six days.
On this last visit we saw that the town had further progressed and modernized, with a brand new Hotel and ski resort. The “piazza” town square was used as a parking lot, because that is as far as cars can go. The narrow streets ahead and the stone steps stop further ingress of autos into the town.
May 11th we returned to Naples. The next day we took a plane to the Rome airport, where we boarded our plane to Miami.
We stopped in Barcelona, Spain, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, where we went through Customs. Then on to Miami.
